The Board of Central School Project would like to send out a huge thank you to the entities that support us! Historic preservation is our biggest challenge and we are so happy to say we have received a grant of $20,000 from the Southwestern Foundation to continue work on our historic building’s above ground foundation.
Also this year, we have been awarded $10,000 from the Endowment for the Arts held at the Community Foundation for Southern Arizona, and we are very humbled and honored with this grant. When we received it last year we used the funding to make upgrades to the theater, and it supported our operations and annual Festivals. We also were able to take over the ownership of Tang Artist Cooperative Gallery on Main Street (now Gallery 32) which continues to be run by the 11 artist members there.
CSP is grateful to The Arizona Commission on the Arts, which has awarded us $12,200 in general support for this coming year. We want to give a shout out to our congresspeople and senators and our governor who recognize that the Arts are critically important to our state, our economy and our communities.
Thank you to the Bisbee Foundation, Freeport McMoRan, and the Bisbee Woman’s Club who have all supported our Youth Arts and MAKE Fest with their funding. We are looking forward to seeing families at MAKE 2024.
Our goal at Central School Project is to be accessible and welcoming our greater community and visitors with affordable and free events throughout the year. We are dedicated to serving our public, preserving our building, maintaining studio spaces, and bringing opportunities to artists of all ages and levels of accomplishment.
We are very excited for the year ahead. This funding gives us the opportunity to grow, invest, and stay true to our mission.
Sincerely,
Laurie McKenna
